Answer by Big daddy
most of the 80's from what I understand. I was in a meeting with a guy that was working in the industry in 89, he was quoting rates at 14%, but I was in middle school then

You are right it was in the 80's. 82-83 When Reagan took office over the next 3 years they went way up. Thats the 15% you are talking about, around 83. Over his 8 years in office they went up but came back down to where they were when he took over. But the high rates were during Reagan not Carter. http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=%5ETNX#chart1:symbol=^tnx;range=my;indicator=volume;charttype=line;crosshair=on;ohlcvalues=0;logscale=on;source=undefined ** update ** Glenn is right, prolly had nothing to do with reagan or carter... these things just go in cycles. Just happend to be during reagans run.

1982 was the last year according to this chart. It came close in 1984. Everything comes in cycles. I worked in real estate during this time and still work in real estate. http://www.freddiemac.com/pmms/pmms30.htm
